Marcel Quimby, FAIA



Description:


Marcel Quimby, FAIA, has broad professional experience in historic renovation, resotration, preservation planning, architeture, master planning, research, programming and strategic planning. This experience in designing and managing historic projects, as well as her 'hands on' experience with the Dallas Landmark Commission, Texas' National Register Review Board other preservation efforts provides an understanding of the complexities of historic projects and buildings. Based on this, Quimby has worked with private clients, public and government agencies, architects, consultants and other entities to successfully complete preservation projects and resolve issues inherent with these resources. In addition to her extensive experience in historic preservation, Ms. Quimby also has experience in corporate, institutional, government, educational, and retail architectural projects as well as accessibility design.

This this background, Quimby's expertise in working with historic properties - preservation planning, evaluating and determining historic contexts, conducting historic resource surveys, architectural restoration, renovation - and adaptive re-use and renovation of not-yet historic buildings.

  • Preservation Dallas (formerly Historic Preservation League): Board of Turstees 1993-Present, nominated for President 2001/2002; Secretary 1998/1999 and 1999/2000.

  • Greater Dallas Planning Council: Board of Directors 1999;Vice President/Programd 2000.

  • American Institute of Architects: member 1980-Present. Elected tot he College of Fellows in 1997 for contributions to community and neighborhood preservation and planning in Dallas.

  • Dallas capter of the American Institute of Architects: member 1980-Present; President-1995.

  • Friends of Fair Park: Board of Trustees 1997-Present, Executive Committee 1998/1999-Present.

  • Dallas Landmark Commission: 1987-89, and member ofthe Designation Task Force, a subcommittee of the city of Dallas Landmark Commission, 1983-Present.

  • Urban Design Advisory Committee: a committee that reports to the Dallas City Manager on urban design, planning issues and projects that affect the city of Dallas, 1992-93 and 1996-97.
